Paw self-mutilation syndrome (GDNF: g.70.875.561C>T)
Acral Mutilation Syndrome is characterised by sensory neuropathy of the paws causing insensitivity to pain in the distal parts. Affected dogs usually show signs of extremity self-mutilation. Proprioception, motor skills and reflexes remain intact.
This test is also recommended for Coton de Tuléar and Teckel as part of the breeding program established by the Flemish government (see official program).
