This package includes the mandatory tests defined by the Flemish breeding program for Miniature American Shepherd: Collie eye anomaly (DOG-CEA), Cataract (DOG-HSF4-BA), Multidrug Resistance 1 (DOG-MDR1), Degenerative myelopathy 2 (DOG-DM2), Coat color merle (DOG-LOCUS-M), Progressive rod-cone degeneration (DOG-PRA-PRCD), Progressive retinal atrophy (DOG-PRA-BBS2), Neuroaxonal dystrophy (DOG-NAD-MAS) and Progressive retinal atrophy 4 (CORD1) (DOG-PRA-CRD4). The Flemish breeding program also recommends the tests included in our package DOG-BGAM-VL+.

The locus E or extension refers to a mutation in the MC1R gene. Dogs with one or two dominant E alleles produce eumelanin (black pigment) while dogs with two copies of the e^1 allele will have a red or yellow coat. For dogs with at least one E allele, coat colour will be determined by other genes, including the A, B, D and K locus. Two other variants of this mutation were identified in 2018: the e^2 allele found in the Australian Cattle Dog (see DOG-LOCUS-E-CATTLEDOG) and the e^3 allele in the Husky (see DOG-LOCUS-E-HUSKY).

Ichthyosis is a skin condition caused by keratin dysfunction. The skin of affected dogs is dry, thick, scaly with large skin scales. 

In addition to the genetic test available for this form, a specific test is also available for ichthyosis type 2.

Multidrug Resistance 1 is a genetic mutation in a protein that transports drugs out of the brain. This mutation causes sensitivity to certain drugs, including ivermectin and loperamide. Because of this lack of drug clearance from the brain, affected dogs experience neurological symptoms such as ataxia or even death. MDR1 can be tested for in any breed, but is most commonly found in the breeds listed below.
