Cerebral neuronal lipofuscinosis type 8 (CLN8: c.585G>A)
Test code: DOG-NCL8-BACerebral neuronal lipofuscinosis type 8 (NCL8) is a hereditary neurodegenerative disease observed in certain breeds such as the German Shorthaired Pointer and the Australian Shepherd. Puppies develop normally until 12–14 months of age, after which signs of neurological degeneration appear, including visual impairment, repetitive behaviors, and decreased responsiveness to commands. The disease progresses to blindness, ataxia, and loss of motor function in the limbs, accompanied by frequent epileptic seizures. Due to the severity of symptoms and rapid progression, affected animals are often euthanized before 27 months of age.

Hyperuricosuria (SLC2A9: c.563G>T)
Test code: DOG-HUUHyperuricemia, also known as hyperuricosuria, is a genetic defect causing high levels of uric acid in the urine. The clinical signs of the disease are stones in the bladder or kidneys. HUU can be tested for in any breed, but is most commonly found in the breeds listed below.€49.85 -
Coat color merle
Test code: DOG-LOCUS-MThe Merle gene creates patches of colour in the coat and blue or odd-coloured eyes. Merle dogs may have hearing and eye problems. Dogs homozygous for Merle, also known as double Merle, are predominantly white and prone to several health problems. Merle can be tested in any breed, but is most often found in the breeds listed below.€49.85 -
Intervertebral disc disease
Test code: DOG-IVDDIntervertebral disc disease is a premature abnormal degeneration of the intervertebral discs. In chondrodystrophic breeds, premature calcification of the nucleus pulposus causes disc degeneration in young dogs. These abnormal discs are prone to herniation into the spinal canal where inflammation and bleeding can cause severe pain and neurological dysfunction called intervertebral disc disease. This condition can lead to the death of the animal. IVDD can be tested for in any breed, but is most commonly found in the breeds listed below.€49.85 -
Canine multifocal retinopathy (BEST1: c.73C>T)
Test code: DOG-CMR1Multifocal retinopathy is an eye disease with symptoms appearing between 11 and 16 weeks of age. Affected dogs have multiple circular areas of retinal detachment. Fluid accumulates under the detached retina, resulting in blistering of the eye. The disease progresses slowly and does not usually lead to blindness.
This test is also recommended for Boxer, Boston Terrier, Cairn Terrier, Jack Russel Terrier, Pyrenean Mountain Dog, Miniature Spitz, Rhodesian Ridgeback as part of the breeding program established by the Flemish government (see official program).

Progressive retinal atrophy (PRCD: c.5G>A)
Test code: DOG-PRA-PRCDProgressive rod-cone degeneration is one of several forms of progressive retinal atrophy (PRA), which causes the degeneration and death of retinal cells. The main symptom is progressive vision loss from the age of 3-5 years. The test can be performed for any breed, but is particularly relevant for the breeds listed below€49.85 -
brachyury (short tail) (TBXT: c.189C>G)
Test code: DOG-QUBrachyury, also known as bobtail, is a dominant mutation that is lethal in utero in the homozygous state (two copies of the bobtail mutation). This test also identifies whether the dog's tail is naturally short or whether it has been docked. The list of breeds for which the test is validated is shown below. In six other breeds studied, the short tail is not due to the mutation tested: Boston Terrier, English Bulldog, King Charles Spaniel, Miniature Schnauzer, Parson Russell Terrier, Rottweiler€49.85 -
Multidrug Resistance (ABCB1: c.295_298delAGAT)
Test code: DOG-MDR1Multidrug Resistance 1 is a genetic mutation in a protein that transports drugs out of the brain. This mutation causes sensitivity to certain drugs, including ivermectin and loperamide. Because of this lack of drug clearance from the brain, affected dogs experience neurological symptoms such as ataxia or even death. MDR1 can be tested for in any breed, but is most commonly found in the breeds listed below.€49.85
