Craniomandibular osteopathy (CMO) is a bone disease affecting young dogs, usually between 4 and 8 months of age.
It appears as swelling of the jaw, pain, difficulty opening the mouth, fever, and loss of appetite. Excessive bone growth mainly affects the mandible and skull, and sometimes the long bones.
The mutation may be present without causing visible symptoms, due to its variable expression and incomplete penetrance.

This test is also recommended for the American Staffordshire Terrier, Boston Terrier and Coton de Tuléar as part of the breeding program of the Flemish government (see the official program).

Retinal Dysplasia with Osteoskeletal Dysplasia (OSD1) is a genetic disease that affects collagen in Labrador Retrievers. It manifests itself as dwarfism with short limbs, especially the front legs, as well as ocular abnormalities such as retinal detachment and cataracts.

Affected dogs show signs as early as 4 to 6 weeks of age, with shortened and deformed front legs, a sometimes bulging skull and slightly squinty eyes. Eye lesions include retinal detachment and cataracts, while bone growth plates are poorly organised.

The disease is caused by a mutation that prevents the correct production of collagen, affecting the eyes more severely than the bones. Carriers of the mutation generally do not have bone problems, but may have mild eye damage.

Neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis is a genetic defect characterised by a visual deficit that progresses to complete blindness, as well as progressive anxiety, cognitive and motor degeneration and lack of coordination.

Imerslund-Gräsbeck syndrome is characterised by malabsorption of vitamin B12 (cobalamin). The first symptoms appear around 6 to 12 weeks. The clinical signs are due to the lack of cobalamin which causes megaloblastic anaemia and neurological symptoms.

The B (brown) locus refers to different mutations in the TYRP1 gene causing the brown coat colour. In the Australian Shepherd, a specific mutation (b4) has been identified in addition to the classic mutations (bs, bd, bc) in the Locus-B test.
