Degenerative myelopathy type 2 - exon 2 (SOD1: c.118G>A)
Test code: DOG-DM2Degenerative myelopathy is a neurodegenerative disease that progresses slowly and has a late onset (8 years or more). The initial clinical sign is characterised by hind limb ataxia. As the disease progresses, the frequently observed asymmetric weakness rises to affect the thoracic limbs, resulting in paraplegia. The majority of DM2/DM2 animals will not develop symptoms, however, elimination of these animals from breeding patterns reduces the genetic variability of the breed, which is why Progenus does not recommend this test.€109.00 -
Ichtyosis type 2 (ABHD5: c.1006_1019del)
Test code: DOG-ICHGR-2Ichthyosis type 2 is a skin condition caused by keratin dysfunction. The skin of affected dogs is dry, thick, scaly with large skin scales.
In addition to the genetic test available for this form, a specific test is also available for ichthyosis type 1.

Coat color Orange (ARHGAP36 g.110432079_110437152del)
Test code: CAT-REDSex-linked orange coat colour in cats is associated with an approximately 5 kb deletion in the ARHGAP36 gene, located on the X chromosome. This variant causes abnormal ARHGAP36 expression in melanocytes, reducing the production of eumelanin, the black-brown pigment, and promoting pheomelanin, which is responsible for orange coloration. Males, which have only one X chromosome, are orange when they carry the O variant, whereas they do not show this colour when the variant is absent. In females, two copies of the variant produce an orange coat, while a single copy leads to mosaic expression of orange and non-orange areas, resulting in tortoiseshell or calico coat patterns.

Polyneuropathy type 2 (GJA9: c.1107_1108delAG)
Test code: DOG-LNP2Polyneuropathy type 1 (LNP21) is a progressive neuromuscular disease characterised by generalised weakness, hypotonia, laryngeal paralysis and muscle atrophy, particularly of the hind limbs. The age of onset of symptoms can vary between 1 and 11 years.€49.85 -
Coat colour dominant white (KIT: c.662A>C)
Test code: DONKEY-DWIn donkeys, dominant white corresponds to complete depigmentation: the animal is born with a white coat, pink skin and dark eyes. A variant in the KIT gene, c.662A>C, was identified in a donkey showing this phenotype and is considered a candidate variant associated with dominant white. The genetic test can be used to detect this variant and identify animals that carry it. However, the available data remain preliminary, as this variant was observed in only one white donkey in the study.

L-2-Hydroxyglutaric Aciduria (L2HGDH: c.1298_1300delinsCTT)
Test code: DOG-L-2-HGAL-2-hydroxyglutaric aciduria is a genetic disease of the nervous system. The clinical signs are high levels of L-2-hydroxyglutaric acid in urine and plasma, seizures, wobbly gait, ataxia, tremors and muscle stiffness and usually appear from 6 months of age.€49.85 -
Neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis type 2 (TPP1: c.325delC)
Test code: DOG-NCL2Neuronal ceroid lipofuscinoses (NCLs) are a group of lysosomal storage diseases that affect the central nervous system, leading to early neuronal death and progressive neurodegeneration. NCL2 specifically affects dachshunds, with symptoms including vision loss, tremors, and coordination problems starting at a young age. Unfortunately, there is no known cure for NCL2, and affected dogs typically do not survive past 12 months of age.

Cystinuria type I-A-2 (SLC3A1: c.350delG)
Test code: DOG-CYST1A2Cystinuria is a disorder that interferes with the proper reabsorption of cystine (an amino acid) in the kidneys leading to the formation of cystine crystals in the urine. Affected dogs have cystine crystals in the kidneys and/or bladder.€49.85 -
Progressive retinal atrophy type 2 (TTC8: c.669delA)
Test code: DOG-PRA2-GRProgressive retinal atrophy is an inherited eye disease characterized by bilateral degeneration of the photoreceptor cells of the retina resulting in progressive vision loss leading to total blindness. Other mutations can cause progressive retinal atrophy.
